Staff Accountant Summary:

Signature Consultants has a contract-to-hire opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Charlotte, NC. Our client is seeking an individual with 4+ years of experience who can perform the below responsibilities. An Accounting degree is preferred but will consider finance with the proper experience. The candidate needs general accounting experience, AP, AR, GL, and journal entries.


  • Produce Monthly, Year to Date, and Rolling 12 Month Profit and Loss Statements
  • Identify fluctuations and consult with Director of Finance and Administration to determine likely causes, identify potential errors, etc.
  • Produce Balance Sheet: Identify current ratio
  • Produce Monthly Accounts Receivable Aging Statement: Highlight problem accounts that are not paying within our terms; Review >90 past due accounts with Accounting and Administrative Assistant to coordinate a monthly collection plan
  • Produce Monthly Job Profitably Summary: Identify jobs under targets for profitability; Produce individual Monthly, Year-to-Date, Profit and Loss statements for jobs under targets for profitability
  • Produce Monthly and 12 Month Rolling Job Profitably Detail
  • Calculate target and potential net income
  • Provide notes that include billing and independent contractor rates and explanations
  • Produce quarterly job profitability detail to District Managers
  • Monthly Consumable Overages Report
  • Responsible for Journal Entries into QuickBooks: Adjusting entries, Fixed assets, Shareholder investments and distributions, Payroll, Employee expense reimbursements, Car allowances
  • Taxes: File quarterly Virginia sales and use taxes, File monthly North Carolina sales and use taxes, File monthly Maryland sales and use taxes, Collect and record tax ID information for vendors to submit 1099 data
  • Supplies: Review invoices daily, review problems and issues, ensure project manager are submitting work orders for bill back items
  • Process credit card and check payments
  • Produce monthly supply detail for each project manager
  • Work Orders: Review all bill back orders for accuracy
  • Independent Contractor (IC) Details: Review all IC details, address possible errors with Pay Administrator, assist Accounting and Administrative Assistant with corrections
  • Expense Reimbursements
  • Collect receipts from Vice President and enter into Expensify
  • Corporate Credit Cards -Collect receipts and payment information and enter into QuickBooks
  • Accounts Payable: Submit to Director of Finance and Administration to review and approve
  • Accounts Receivable: Serve as backup to Accounting and Administrative Assistance
  • Administrative Duties: Bid Preparation, Answer standardized questions, Enter data for pricing quote sheet, Submit for review to Director of Finance and Administration and Vice President
  • Contracts: Assist with renewals and new contracts
  • Pricing Increases: Track and review the need for price increase on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis, Assist Accounting and Administrative Assistant with answering office line, Ensure all Accounting documents are filed electronically and hard copies
