Job Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Staff Accountant for an opportunity with a client located in Herndon, Virginia.
The candidate would be reporting to the Accounting Manager. They would be part of the team responsible for monthly financial close and reporting, account reconciliation, accounts payable, inter-company billing, actual vs budget variance analysis, procurements, fixed asset and prepaid expense management. Requires basic to advanced Excel skills such as creating and editing spreadsheets, utilizing formulas and database tools to create complex functions using pivot table and database queries, utilizing vlookup, IF function and applying data validation. This position requires strong communication and analytical skills. Duties performed can be complex, requiring exercise of judgment, initiative and sound knowledge of accounting principles and company/department policies and procedures


  • Manage monthly prepaid expense accounts, review backup documentation, set up and release recurring entries in SAP. Maintain monthly prepaid account and subledger account reconciliation. Prepare adjustment entries to ensure prepaid expense actual is in line with budget.
  • Follow up software renewal items with procurement team, answer all questions related to prepaid software expense and explain monthly variance between actual and budget.
  • Prepare monthly intercompany billing, perform reconciliation of accounts receivable and follow up with payment.
  • Assist in preparing accrual entries and monthly financial reports, in booking month-end close transactions and aligned with budget.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies and resolve open items.
  • Update and maintain the fixed asset and prepaid ledger, including assurance of proper reporting to local authorities.
  • Perform data collection and analysis for annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)


  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous relevant experience with SAP related to journal entry templates, general ledger, accounts payables and purchase order inquires.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required and working knowledge with SRM procurement process preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial reporting including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and in both independent and collaborative environments
  • Sound judgment and a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
