Senior Data Storage Engineer Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Senior Data Storage Engineer for an oppportunity under limited supervision, supports the global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public storage infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices. Provides information guidance to colleagues with less experience. Solves problems through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents. Highly proficient within discipline and contributes significantly to organizational objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, design, and implement storage, backup, recovery, and data management solutions that ensure high performance of the organization's enterprise data (on-premise or cloud).
  • Responsible for operational maintenance, availability, and capacity of critical Storage Area Networking (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and other storage related environments.
  • Closely monitor storage performance and utilization, identify problems, and implement solutions. Conducts root cause investigation and responds to incidents involving storage related events.
  • Contributes to the creation of standards, best practices, and new processes for operational integration of new technology solutions.
  • Ensure storage, backup, and recovery environments are compliant with defined standards and operational procedures.
  • Participates with capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Provides regular status, operational , incident, and change reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience managing storage platforms in private and public cloud environments.
  • Intermediate ability to automate and maintain automation for core job functions.
  • Intermediate skills in storage platform management.
  • Intermediate understanding of data center layout planning, networking, and life cycle management.
  • Intermediate experience installing, configuring, and automating multiple storage systems.
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Intermediate investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Intermediate ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects.
  • Intermediate ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.

  • Intermediate experience designing and managing enterprise storage solutions using NetApp, EMC, and Pure storage platforms.
  • Intermediate experience with SAN management with NetApp, EMC, and Pure storage platforms.
  • Intermediate experience automating various management tasks (such as snapshots) within NetApp, EMC, and Pure storage platforms.
  • Intermediate experience using NetApp Snapmirror and Snapvault technologies for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Intermediate experience designing and managing enterprise data protection platforms.
  • Intermediate experience with backup architectures, methodologies, and tools including disk to disk and tape libraries.
  • Ability to create, run, and troubleshoot backup processes, data restorations, and general storage related issues.
