Cisco Engineer Role Summary:

Signature Consultants has an opportunity for a Cisco Engineer. In this role the candidate will develop technology roadmaps governed by strategic direction and business requirements. This position works across multiple vendors and internal partners to produce technically excellent solutions aligned to business needs and direction for our client. The candidate will provide technical direction and frameworks to meet business needs; consult on major network initiatives or incidents; provide guidance and recommendations specific to customer requirements; and review the feasibility of new/existing IT projects. The candidate will write technical/business low level designs and costing activities.


  • Develop strong linkage with the Architecture & Solutions team to deliver low level designs and ensure compliance
  • Participate in peer reviews for high and low level designs
  • Ensure LOB & production characteristics are understood
  • Responsible for delivery of complex solutions on time & on budget
  • Develop detailed, low level technical designs for complex EV Solutions
  • Ensure successful delivery of technical solutions into production environment
  • Provide L3 support to resolve complex and visible production issues as required
  • Accountable for production environment oversight
  • Responsible for capacity, security, continuity, & availability management
  • Design to meet customer's availability requirements
  • Recommend/leverage tools to ensure effective platform management
  • Evaluate high risk change
  • Provide subject matter expertise to LOB, relationship managers, network teams including Operations
  • Identify risks, recommend remediation process
  • Engage with security, Compliance, and Legal to ensure proper controls
  • Ensure stability of environment through lifecycle management
  • Engage w/ Product Mgmt, Architecture & internal / external partners as required to contribute to technology roadmaps
  • Work with Bank Architecture to help maintain multiyear technology roadmaps aligned with business unit plans
  • Contribute to specific engineering low level design and standards (in an engineering repository)
  • Support certification & architecture teams as needed in accordance w/ the tollgate process entry & exit criteria
  • Contribute to testing strategy & technology certification plan
  • Articulate approaches and drive a collaborative engagement across multiple teams, partners and executives
  • Communicate to various organizational levels in the organization including senior management presenting Engineering solutions, Production designs and operational issues effectively to line of business partners and application development leaders.
  • Lead the engagement in high severity production incidents and problem tickets in support of RTC redesign requirements.
  • Provide feedback to product teams as to the catalog of standard products, and business requirements for changes to the catalog.
  • Engage senior levels of Bank technology to drive overall agenda / direction on organizational planning


  • BS or BA in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ Years of experience in Collaboration platform. Experience in financial industry is a plus.
  • Ability to thoroughly review, understand and interpret technology updates for applicability in the environment we support
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of customers and partners
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond under pressure
  • Demonstrated work experience in similar capacity as a voice/video engineer for large enterprise network
  • Knowledge market data/exchange technologies a plus
  • Familiar with technology trends in networking, Collaboration voice/video systems. Examples include but not limited to software defined networking (SDN), Mobile, immersive video, SIP session management etc.
  • Expertise in voice technologies including but not limited to SIP Trunking and SIP interworking, voice over IP protocols (H.323/SIP), IP PBX, session management etc.
  • Intranet/extranet environments, load balancing, Hypervisor as well as wide area networking technology such as IP/MPLS, DWDM technologies, IP Multicast (PIM, MBGP) and Quality of Service environment (QoS)
  • Knowledge of other vendors such as Juniper, Aruba, and Sonus/Ribbon is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on familiarity with in SBC, Genesys, a plus
  • Hands-on Cisco voice platforms and unified communication and collaboration technologies
  • Hands-on in LAN/WAN technologies including but not limited wired/wireless LAN environments, data center networking, experience with networking products such as routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls and WAN optimization products.
  • Demonstrate extensive technical experience working with large VoIP network using Cisco Voice collaboration platforms and solutions including Call Manager/CUCM, Cisco SME, Unity Connection Voice Mail, Jabber, Webex, Webex Teams, MRA, Expressway, Telepresence, CMS, TMS and video end points DX,SX,IX. Spark and Spark Boards
  • Sound working knowledge of SRTP, RTP, Opus, SCCP, and SIP and SIP interworking.
  • Broad working knowledge of call routing in complex fortune 500 company with QSIG, MGCP, CAC, H323 and SIP
  • Firm understanding of TDM, VoIP and call control disciplines as well next generation networks using APIs, WebRTC, and HTML5.
  • Session Management knowledge, with experience integrating to Avaya Aura, Acme products a plus
  • SIP and Traditional ISDN/PRI Trunking and broad experience with carrier network, SIP trunking interworking including RFC standards
  • Sonus Gateway Technology configuration and/or integration experience (2K,5K,7K & 9K)
  • Layer 2/3 experience and configuration, internetworking using BGP, ISIS, OSPF.
  • Extensive understanding of QoS standards and best practice for Real Time media
  • E911 configuration on Cisco products and West/Intrado a plus
  • Additional considered competencies with of MSFT infrastructure such as Active Directory, IM&*P, .net, power shell, exchange is a plus
  • SfB/Lync on premise and on line solutions a plus
