Cloud and Software Defined Network Engineer (NextGen) Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Cloud and Software Defined Network Engineer (NextGen) for an opportunity with our client in Tempe, AZ. The client is looking for results driven individuals that strive for excellence, enjoy the challenges of a fast paced environment and the desire to make a difference. More specifically, looking for talented networking professionals to design, develop, deploy, sustain and monitor state-of-the-art network solutions (WAN, CAN, LAN, DCN, and wireless communications solutions) that are currently and will soon be deployed across the company worldwide. The Cloud and Software Defined Networking Engineer will design and implement the enhancements and future capabilities for the architecture of the company. In this role you will define, plan, and support the execution of the evolution of our current network capabilities to enhanced and expanded network infrastructures. You will serve operational needs within the enterprise and may occasionally be required to serve in an on-call capacity. You will use various global cloud capabilities and software based networking capabilities in order to provide the best possible managed attribution network infrastructure to support our vision of a boundaryless institution. Specifically, you will have to work with the current operational elements, engineering and infrastructure staff and the design team to define the underlying infrastructure use of cloud technologies and SDN capabilities for the enhanced and newly designed networks.

Skills Required:

  • 5 - 6+ years or experience in enterprise Cloud design and implementation
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with multiple Cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, Google) in building and maintaining reliable infrastructure and security services
  • Knowledge of technologies surrounding Enterprise Switches and Routers connecting to Cloud applications and cloud networking technologies in the areas of SDN, NFV, SD-WAN
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux administration and systems management
  • Experience in designing virtualized compute environments utilizing VMware, OpenStack, etc.
  • Development experience with cloud platforms, orchestration, and VNF managers
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff
  • Strong presentation skills

Skills Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in a technical discipline
  • Must apply out of the box thinking about creative ways to use Cloud services and SDN services to provide the best infrastructure options
  • Multi-vendor infrastructure platforms (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, Arista)
  • Multi-vendor Layer 3 routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSFP, EIGRP, IGRP, HSRP, VRRP)
  • Virtual Private Networking (i.e., MPLS, GRE, L2VPN, EVPN, Pseudowire, IPsec, MACSEC)
  • Data center architectures and converged networks
  • Current networking trends, including commercial implementations of Software Defined Networks (SDN) for both Data Center Network and WAN applications
  • Load balancing and Application Delivery Controller technologies and implementations
  • WAN architectures (i.e., Carrier Ethernet, Optical Fabrics (OTN), SONET)
  • Network monitoring tools (i.e., NetFlow Tracker, Wireshark, Cisco LMS, Cisco Call Manager, Wireshark, Elastic, and Splunk)
  • Network Modeling (OPNet, NetSim)
  • Network Boundary (Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco FIREPOWER), IPSEC/SSL VPN Concentrators)
  • Technical certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, SEC+)
  • Experience in cybersecurity engineering, network intelligence and operations, and machine learning are highly desired.

Experience Required:

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Experience Preferred:

  • Ideal candidate will have a BS or MS degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology or related field (e.g., General Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Information Assurance, or Computer Security). Applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis meaning that if they have the requisite knowledge or experience without the preferred degree area, we are still interested in considering them.

Education Required:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Technology Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND two (2) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Six (6) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience
