Senior Scrum Master Overview:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Senior Scrum Master for an opportunity in St. Louis, MO. This role will focus on serving as a Technical Scrum Master within the ITS Department as part of a new business unit. The current focus of the business unit is on a Cloud Transformation as well as the adoption of Emerging Technologies, such as AI and RPA. The Scrum Master role will also be key to guiding the DevOps processes in a lean and agile way, for the build and optimization of single end-to-end extensible frameworks that can holistically deploy Front end, Back end, API, etc pipelines for secure Enterprise scale applications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and encourage participation from all team members in key Scrum ceremonies, e.g.. daily huddle/scrum, backlog grooming, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives to actively manage risks and dependencies
  • Collaborates with Technical resources, Product, and Analysts to break down project needs and user feedback into user stories and tasks, which can be added to sprint backlog. In addition, drive stories to ready state in preparation for the upcoming sprint.
  • Manage sprint velocity-related metrics
  • Fulfills the role of Scrum Master leading multiple Scrum Teams through the agile process in the delivery of enterprise software development projects
  • Implement Agile practices to facilitate the incremental and adaptive delivery of software products within the Scrum teams
  • Facilitates the adoption of key engineering practices Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, etc to improve quality and reliability of team's deliverables
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring of Scrum Team members on Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices
  • Motivate team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build and document a successful and reproducible Agile foundational framework that can be adopted by other teams within the organization
  • Facilitates creation of project delivery roadmap
  • Ensure the technical team has a clear understanding of Definition of Done
  • Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution by encouraging transparency and building trust among team members
  • Promotes a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
  • Create a dashboard that can show how Agile software delivery is creating business value to business areas

Education and Experience:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) with 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master for technology teams diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Hand-on experience with software development (developer, tester, technical analyst, etc)
  • Experience mentoring developers and helping them improve their Agile skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile/DevOps techniques: User Stories, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Automated Testing.
  • 2+ years' experience with Cloud based delivery
  • 2+ years' experience with Cloud services (e.g. Amazon AWS & MS Azure)
  • Greatly beneficial to have experience with a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) implementation
  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (e.g. progress tracking techniques, Retrospective formats, story estimation, etc.)
  • Experience translating requirements to design new and/or re-engineer existing business and technical processes/workflows
  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Preferred experience working in an IT organization during an Agile DevOps transition

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of Agile software development process (e.g. Kanban, Scrum, TDD, BDD)
  • Working knowledge of 12 Factor Applications
  • Passion for ensuing delivery of code quality. A strong understanding of the entire DevOps tool chain from a quality perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience using agile templates is strongly desired
  • Ability to effectively read communication styles of team members
  • Ability to have clear, professional and open dialogue with team members, other teams, and management
  • Ability to think independently, make decisions and perform objective analyses
  • Ability to explain and present complex topics
  • Flexibility to handle fast changing conditions
  • Knowledge of project-management software applications and methodologies (i.e., Agile / Waterfall, MS Project, TFS, GitLab)
  • Knowledge of , .Net, as well as other open-source toolsets
  • Experience with application build tools, build management servers, and software container technologies a plus
  • Understanding non-functional, functional and unit test frameworks and tools as well as automated test technologies
